Bochum is one of the ten largest university cities in Germany and RUB enjoys a reputation as a pioneering university. Its size also makes it one of the most diverse national universities. Creating new living space here is therefore also a major political issue. It is therefore all the more fitting that the new residential campus for students will also be pioneering work with its sustainable timber construction. The individual apartments will be used as modular prefabricated \u201cwooden boxes\u201d. Working with wood gives the apartments a completely different look and a particularly pleasant indoor climate.
\nThe entire residential campus is planned as an open and modular structure. The corridors and arcades, which interweave the different elements of the structure, provide a special kind of insight. In this way, the supposedly large structure with almost 100 apartments is broken down into individual, smaller buildings, in which good orientation and a functioning neighborhood are possible. Apart from clearly designed access via freely accessible arcades for the entire project, this results in easily legible and manageable addresses for each individual user, which are also recognizable from the outside.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The garden areas are accessible to everyone in order to promote the community spirit. The idea of community is also reinforced by individual rooms that can be rented by everyone in case visitors come or a party takes place. The flexibility of the individual modules should not stop at the design, but should also create as much freedom as possible in terms of use. Especially in the study phase, when you are trying to find your bearings and build up your first, freely chosen network, you shouldn't find yourself in an anonymous block after the lecture.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
